164 off 105 balls vs South Africa, March 2006: The historic match when, led by skipper Ponting, Australia massacared the Protean bowlers to post 434/4 in Johannesburg. He smashed 9 sixes and 13 fours to notch up a strike-rate of over 156. The fact that Australia still ended up on the losing side was only down to some exceptional batting by Herschelle Gibbs.

145 off 158 balls vs Zimbabwe, April 1998: Ponting hit 18 fours and a six to guide his team to 294/3 at Delhi. Zimbabwe fought hard but eventually fell short of the imposing target by 16 runs.

His innings at Sydney lifted the hosts to 317/7. In reply Gautam Gambhir smashed a hundred of his own but could not take India to win and Australia won by 18 runs.
