Chasing 171, Kiwis needed just seven from the final six deliveries. Dale Steyn ensured that the final over of the day was also the best for his side as he gave away just five and claimed two wickets and inflicted a run-out. He finished with figures of 4/17.

Kiwis though were on top of their game for most parts of the match. Martin Guptill provided a solid start to his side against SA's 170/6.

Guptill scored 22 and put on 57 for the first wicket with Kane Williamson.

Kane Williamson took over once Guptill departed and kept the Kiwis in a comfortable position. He scored his first T20I fifty as well.

There was some hope for SA as Imran Tahir sent back skipper Brendon McCullum for just 4.

Williamson though found the perfect partner in Ross Taylor.

While Williamson hit 51 off 35, Ross Taylor smashed 62 off 37 before being run-out in the final over.

It was this final over that left Kiwis devastated as South Africa managed to collect full points from the match.

The other highlight for the Proteas was JP Duminy who hit an unbeaten 86 off 43 after his side was asked to bat.
