Portugal Beat France 1-0 To Win Maiden European Championship Title

As always, Portugal captain was the key man for the team who reached their second Euro final

Meanwhile it was Antoine Griezmann who had starred for France so far in the continental tournament

Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio made quite a few number of saves against an attacking France

Griezmann got close to scoring several times in the first half but was halted by Patricio

Portugal received a massive jolt when their star Ronaldo was taken off the field due to an injury

This happened after Ronaldo had an altercation with France's Dimitri Payet

France had a few number of chances in the second half with a Ronaldo-less Portugal but they failed to convert their opportunities

Despite attempts from both sides the match headed for extra-time

The first half of extra-time also went goal-less with neither side converting their chances

But it was substitute Eder in the 109th minute to stunned the home crowd with a lovely strike which gave Portugal the 1-0 lead

Portugal had to wait only a few more minutes before the final whistle, crowning themselves European Champions for the maiden time

Ronaldo finally has done what his rival Lionel Messi hasn't been able to do i.e. win a major football title with his country
