Argentina defeated France 4-2 (3-3) in penalty shootouts in the summit clash of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as the South Americans lifted the trophy for the third time.

The Lionel Messi-led Argentina defeated France in the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2022. The regulation time ended in 3-3 draw before Argentina claimed a 4-2 win on the penalties.
