One of the most endearing image of the 2014 Ballon d'Or Awards was Cristiano Ronaldo's four-year-old son hugging him after his father was crowned the best footballer on the planet. But, while Cristiano Junior's love for his dad is well known, that the son of one of world's most celebrated footballer is a fan of his biggest rival - Lionel Messi - was only discovered on Monday night.
A YouTube clip from the night of the Ballon d'Or awards shows the four-year old walk up to Lionel Messi. The Barcelona star then ruffles the youngster's hair tenderly and asks "Hi, How are you doing?"
At this point Ronaldo senior can be heard telling Messi, "He's always watching internet videos of us and speaks to me of you."
A shy Cristiano Jr. then runs back to his father, as Ronaldo remarks, "Don't be shy now."
The scene clearly highlighted the humane side of two players, vying for the crown of world number 1.
As for the four-year old football enthusiast- just imagine, with Ronaldo's genes and Messi for inspiration, Cristiano Junior certainly has all the ingredients of a future football superstar.
