Ferguson had been given a guard of honour by players from United and Swansea as he made his way onto the pitch before the game.

Ferguson sat in the famous Manchester United dugout for one final time and watched his side score a customary late winner.

"My retirement doesn't mean the end of my life with the club. I'll be able to enjoy watching them, rather than suffer with them," Ferguson said in his farewell speech.

Ferguson was presented with the Premier League trophy, which United secured for an unprecedented 20th time three weeks ago, as the 13th title party of his Old Trafford tenure got underway.
