ZIM vs WI, 1st Test, Day 2 Highlights: An opening double-century stand from openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul put the West Indies in the ascendancy against Zimbabwe in the first Test match in Bulawayo. In control for large periods across day one and two, the pair's biggest threat seemingly came from inclement weather, though rain only could delay the success of the pair who were both close to their best with the bat. Brathwaite remained unbeaten on 116 while Chanderpaul carried his bat for 101 not out. Windies were 221 without loss when the umpires called for stumps on Day 2.
Here are the Highlights of Day 2 of the 1st Test between Zimbabwe and West Indies from the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo

... SECOND INNINGS...
-
!
It's a very competitive total in the first innings from the touring team. The record opening stand between Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul set the tone and then West Indies decided to go for quick runs. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals but still, the Windies' batters stuck to the plan. The pitch was looking as flat as a pancake in the early half but it has certainly started to offer a good amount of help to the bowlers, especially the spinners. Brandon Mavuta made full use of it and claimed a fifer and he was the only bowler to take some solace from an otherwise disappointing and tough outing on the field. Let's see how their batters fare against a quality bowling attack of West Indies. Stay tuned...

!
This was on the cards once Tagenarine Chanderpaul completed his marathon knock. He is walking back with his bat raised and is getting applauded by the Zimbabwean players as well. It's been a great inning of application and patience from the young man.

SIX! BANG! Take a bow, Tagenarine Chanderpaul! Chanderpaul comes down the pitch and gets to the pitch of the ball before smoking it right back over the bowler's head to bring up his maiden double ton in style. Chanderpaul punches the air in delight and soaks in the applause as well. He now becomes the 10th West Indian to convert his maiden hundred into a double and he is certainly keeping the family name flying high.

Drinks break. The highlight of the session has to be the 5-wicket haul for Brandon Mavuta. The leg spinner toiled hard and has been rewarded eventually. He has got some support from the surface and the attacking approach of the West Indian batters also assisted his cause. The tourists have lost wickets at regular wickets in their bid to score quick runs. It seems that they want to declare before the Tea break. Anyway, all eyes will be now on Tagenarine Chanderpaul who is two away from a double century. Joshua Da Silva has joined him in the middle.

141.1WBrandon Mavuta to Jason Holder
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Another peach of a delivery from Brandon Mavuta and he picks up a five-wicket haul! Mavuta gives it considerably more air and flights it on a shortish length outside the off stump. Jason Holder gets drawn into the shot and gets beaten in the flight. The ball turns away a touch and takes the outside edge of Holder's blade and Tafadzwa Tsiga pouches it safely behind the stumps. Holder doesn't even wait for the umpire's finger to be raised and walks back. Mavuta is absolutely delighted and rightly so.
