That ends the Pakistan tour of Zimbabwe. They did well in the shorter formats (apart from a loss in the first ODI) but will be deeply disappointed with the outcome of the Test series. We look forward to your company in future and until then, it's good bye from me! You can now hop over to the concerned tab for the commentary of England vs Australia, fourth ODI. Cheers!!!
Both captains share the winning prize and trophy! Misbah-ul-Haq says that Zimbabwe deserved to win as they were positive throughout. Adds that the plan after lunch was to be positive and keep scoring runs. Also says that batting is a worry for them and the batsmen have to learn from their mistakes. Brendan Taylor says that beating a world class team is a great feeling. Also says that Test cricket is always about winning sessions and glad that they achieved it.
Younus Khan bags the Man of the Series award. He credits Zimbabwe for winning this Test after all the off field drama and feels that this win will given them a big boost. Praises his skipper and says that they were unlucky in this game. Credits the Zimbabwean bowlers for their terrific effort.
Misbah-ul-Haq is given the Player of the Match award, while Tendai Chatara is undoubtedly the Man of the Match for his exemplary spell of fast bowling. Chatara says that he is feeling nice and adds that he was backing himself to hit the line and length and the cracks in the pitch helped.
After today's defeat, Pakistan dropped to sixth place in the ICC Test Rankings while Zimbabwe returns to the Test table in ninth place, above Bangladesh.
Excellent Test series! Zimbabwe fought hard in both Tests and finally managed to earn a victory, which for them is a rarity. They impressed specially with their bowling and their batting also gave good support. This was an outstanding effort from the hosts and this will help cricket develop and become more popular in this part of the world. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be crestfallen after this defeat. With a big series against South Africa lined up, they would surely look to address a few areas in their game.
It was always going to be tough for Pakistan to chase down 264 on a crumbling surface but their openers laid a good platform. However, the middle-order failed to capitalize against some superb bowling by Zimbabwe. Tendai Chatara was the star of the show with a five-for and he led his team off the field amidst a big cheer from the crowd.
Massive moment for Zimbabwe cricket and the way the entire team and the home crowd is celebrating speaks volumes. Shingirai Masakadza can't stop himself from rushing to the field from the dressing room and he is proudly holding the national flag. The Zimbabwean dressing room has gone bonkers and contrast scenes in the opposition camp as there are a few sad faces. What a Test match! What a win! But spare a thought for Pakistan's skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq, he tried his best but eventually ran out of partners. Series levelled 1-1!
Tendai Chatara to Misbah ul Haq
OUT! Suicidal run out! Fuller length delivery on off, Misbah gets forward and nudges it to covers. Hesitation over a single, Misbah sends his partner back who is mid-way down the track and the fielder in the meanwhile parries it to the bowler. The bails are removed and Khan is not even in the frame. Wild celebration on the field and Misbah-ul-Haq is standing there dejected. ZIMBABWE WIN BY 24 RUNS!
Tendai Chatara to Rahat Ali
Full length ball outside off, Ali pushes at it and the edge flies past slip cordon for a single.
Rahat Ali is the last batsman out in the middle for Pakistan. They need 26 more for a win!
Tendai Chatara to Junaid Khan
OUT! Maiden five-wicket haul in Tests for Chatara and he is all pumped up! Terrific delivery, Chatara angles in a good length ball on middle and off, it straightens a touch after landing with some extra bounce, Khan is squared up in defense and it finds the shoulder of the bat. The ball flies towards gully where Waller catches it safely. Zimbabwe one wicket away from registering a win.
Full out-swinging delivery outside off, Khan once again goes for a big drive through the line but is beaten by the movement. Now Misbah walks up to him and has a chat!
Good length delivery outside off, Khan feels for it initially but then keeps his bat away from the line.
Fuller length delivery outside off, going straight on, Khan tries to play the cover drive but is beaten.
Second new ball has been taken immediately by Zimbabwe. Junaid Khan to face Chatara!
Brian Vitori to Misbah ul Haq
FOUR! Outstanding batting! Room on offer outside off, touch short too, Misbah reaches out for it and slashes it through the gap at cover-point. 8 runs off the over!
Misbah will be eyeing a single now.
Bouncer! The batsman does well to evade it.
FOUR! Beautiful shot! Vitori serves a juicy half-volley around off, Misbah leans into the drive and caresses it with all the elegance through covers for a boundary. 30 more needed for a win!
