Australia declared twice during the match with big totals of 494 and 303. They gave South Africa a huge total of 511 to chase. South Africa had a little more than four sessions to see off and were on the brink of saving the Test but Australia held their nerves and edged the hosts out right at the death.
Australia win the series 2-1. South Africans fought well to play out the overs but Harris and Johnson bowled exceptionally well. They both took seven wickets together in the second innings while Pattinson took a couple. Australia needed six wickets at the start of the day and they got it right in time before stumps.
Ryan Harris to Morne Morkel
