Right then! That ends the limited overs series. The series in whites begins on the 31st, the final day of the year at 0600 GMT (1130 IST) at this very same venue. Until then, on behalf of the commentators and scorers, ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Ha ha... Misbah was getting ready to pose with the trophy when Danny Morrison, who was doing the presentation, suddenly remembered that he did not interview Angelo Mathews at all! Mathews admits that his team was just good enough to win the game. Is disappointed with the batting throughout the series. Praises Chandimal. He too, is happy with the return of some experienced cricketers, especially Mahela Jayawardena. Hopes that it turns out to be a good series.
Misbah now gets the trophy and poses with the same. Feels good about the Test side as some experienced guys are coming back. Is happy that Hafeez is getting his form back. Believes that it will be a good series.
MOHAMMAD HAFEEZ has been named the Man Of The Series. Thanks the almighty, his supporters and followers. Believes that his team should have won but credits the Sri Lankan team nevertheless. Reckons he is ready for the Test series.
DINESH CHANDIMAL has been awarded the Man Of The Match. Says that he is over the moon. Adds that when he came out to bat, Sri Lanka were 110/2 and comfortable but these conditions are not easy ones to bat. On Mendis, he credits him for taking the pressure off him which allowed Chandimal to play his natural game.

Here come the awards -
MISBAH says that he is happy to have won the series but is disappointed to have lost the match, that too, from a winning position, probably in the last 3 overs. Admits that his side was around 20-25 runs short but the bowlers bowled really well. Rues the lapses in the field. About the Tests coming up, he reckons that the Test side is shaping up well and should do a decent job.
Chandimal held one end up and kept fighting, and found an unlikely partner in Mendis. He just threw his bat at everything, did Mendis and it came off tonight. But overall, a great game!
Perera's dismissal slowed the run-rate further but Dilshan kept things going. However, his wicket started a collapse and Pakistan found a way to come back into this match. Ajmal and Junaid had nearly won the match for their side, sharing 5 wickets amongst themselves.
A different Sri Lankan unit turned up today, restricting Pakistan to 233. The visitors then started their run chase well, with the openers adding 75. Kushal Perera blasted the ball to all parts and at that stage, it seemed as if this will be a walk over. However, the spinners stemmed the flow of runs and eventually, Perera gifted his wicket away.
Pakistan do not know what has hit them. Ajantha Mendis was always a threat, but with the bat? Highly unlikely. The crowd is yet to realize what has happened. The players now shake hands.
to Ajantha Mendis
FOUR! MATCH OVER! SRI LANKA WIN BY 2 WICKETS AND 2 BALLS TO SPARE! He does what he did best in this match with the bat. Attack. Charged down the track, converted it into a length ball and swung it over extra cover for a boundary! He raises his arms in the air and runs towards his partner in wild celebration!
Oohhh... on a good length outside off, 135.2 kph, Mendis looks to steer it to third man but is beaten.

Full and wide outside off, driven through the covers for a single. 2 NEEDED FROM 4.
Short outside off, 131 kph, punched towards cover. 3 NEEDED FROM 5 BALLS.
ANWAR ALI to bowl the final over. 5-0-31-1 so far. Replaces Ajmal. Sri Lanka need 3 runs.
Umar Gul to Dinesh Chandimal
Full on middle, driven towards long on for a run. 15 from the over!
Umar Gul to Ajantha Mendis

SIX! WHAT-A-HIT! Unbelievable! A length ball outside off, 128.4 kph, Mendis jumps down the track and lofts it with precision over extra cover! The Lankans are pumped up! Mendis has become the unlikely hero with the bat! Now, who would have thought that?
