That's all we have from this game. Thanks for joining in. 2nd Test starts from 23rd October in Dubai. Join us for that to see whether South Africa fight back or if Pakistan inflict a clean sweep. Until then, good bye and take care.
The winning captain, Misbah-ul-Haq comes in for a chat. Says that it is unbelievable that they have managed to pull this one off and certainly a much needed one after that loss against Zimbabwe in their last Test. Adds that the pitch was not that easy as it was made to look. The ball wasn't coming on to the bat and it was turning too. Mentions scoring a hundred against SA was big. He is very happy as it came when the team needed it the most. Thanks the crowd for the wonderful support they provided over the course of 4 days and is looking forward to the next Test at Dubai where there will be a bit of bounce and turn.
Now is the turn of Man of the Match, Khurram Manzoor to have a chat. Praises the Almighty for this big win. Was a little bit tensed until the match got over but the relief in the end was well worth the wait. Says he has been working hard back home with his coach, Rashid Latif and is reaping the rewards of that. Emphasizes the importance of communicating with his opening partner Shan Masood, who also had an impressive debut. Playing for the same city helped them get along quite well out there in the middle.
The losing captain, Graeme Smith comes in for a chat. Says he is extremely disappointed by the way things went. Adds that the first morning was a difficult time to bat but did get off to a good start. He said that things then fell apart and 249 was never a good score on this wicket. Hopes that the side can improve in the next Test match. Wishes Hashim Amla all the very best with the birth of his child while acknowledging that he is one of the best players going around. Admits his loss will be big.
A lot of positives for them to take from this match. Manzoor and Masood at the top, Babar with his impressive performance and Misbah with a battling century. South Africa struggled in both the innings with only Hashim Amla and de Villiers getting some runs for them. If Amla remains unavailable for the next Test, it could hurt them big. The post-match presentation is just round the corner, stay tuned!
A famous win this for Pakistan as they get home with one full day remaining. This now is only their fourth win against the Proteas and that will come as a big relief after the loss against Zimbabwe in the last Test. They now take a 1-0 lead in this 2-match series. They did stutter a bit chasing 40 initially but the veterans Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq got them over the line safe and sound. Pakistan outplayed South Africa for all 4 days of intense Test cricket.
