Right then, that will be all from us! England will get a good little break for a month or so before they start preparing for the return Ashes. Australia will now head to India for one T20 and seven ODIs in October. Until next time, it's bye-bye from us!
Michael Clarke, also awarded the Man of the Series for his runs. Starts off by saying that it is indeed a very cold day and that is the reason for most players with their jumper suits on. Praises Watson for his breathtaking innings. Next stop is India and he says that he wants to do well there to become the No.1 team in the world. Doesn't dwell too much on the return Ashes in November.
Eoin Morgan comes to have a chat. Says they did extremely well to keep them under 300 and feels that this total was pretty chasable on this wicket. Is happy that new boys with the likes of Buttler, Stokes and Rankin have been excellent with their performances. Would like to see a better performance from himself too.
Shane Watson is named Man of the Match for his brilliant knock. He says that he had a lot of fun playing today given the magnitude of this game. Adds that it was a deliberate strategy to target the spinners as the fast bowlers were bowling a tight line which was hard to score of.
Australia owe it big time to Shane Watson and Michael Clarke as it was these two that got them out of a hole early on in the game. Their 163-run stand enabled them to reach a big total of 298. England never really got into the game after losing quick wickets at regular intervals. Though they did hint at a spirited comeback through Bopara and Buttler, it was just too much for them to do in the end as they collapsed under pressure. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!
So there you have it folks! Australia win by 49 runs and take the series with this win. An important result for them considering all that has transpired throughout the tour. They must be relieved for the moment and this win should give them added incentive for their upcoming tour to India.
Fawad Ahmed to Boyd Rankin
OUT! Bowled him! Australia win by 49 runs! Rankin swipes across the line but misses it completely and is cleaned up giving Australia the series win.
Put down! Oh dear! Australia have been poor at times with their catching and here's another one put down. Rankin slogs across it and gets it high up in the air down to Finch at deep mid-wicket who, in all fairness should have taken that comfortably but somehow pops it out. They take a couple.
Driven down to long on for a couple.
Fawad Ahmed to James Tredwell
BYE! Tredwell tries to sweep but fails to make contact. The batsmen have run through for a single. Byes signalled by the umpire.
Tredwell fails to make contact and iss hit low on the pads.
FOUR! Full on off, Tredwell drives it powerfully through covers for his first boundary.
James Faulkner to Boyd Rankin
The batsman has driven it straight down the ground.
Boyd Rankin is the last man in.
James Faulkner to Ben Stokes
OUT! Stokes is gone now! Tries an over-ambitious flick over the keeper's head but in the end manages to lob it straight to point who takes a dolly of a catch. His cameo of 27 ends with that and England lose their 9th wicket.
Stokes gets an inside edge that earns him a couple as the fielder at short fine leg fumbles.
James Faulkner to James Tredwell
Tredwell plays it with an angled bat and guides it to third man. One run added to the total.
Full on middle, driven down to long on for a single.
Full outside off, Stokes misses his squirt.
Tredwell is the new man in.
