Edward Charles Rainsford Profile
One of Zimbabwe’s pace bowling talents, Edward Rainsford has made a name for himself by being able to bowl immaculate yorkers at will. Born in Kadoma, Mashonaland, Rainsford took to the game at an early age and his passion eventually took him to play for the country.
The speedster started playing first-class cricket for the Midlands in the Logan Cup and his performances soon got him a place in the CFX Academy. His talent was spotted early by the national selectors and he was quickly made a part of the Under-19 World Cup squad. The year 2004 saw him get his first break in international cricket due to the rebel players withdrawing. His first few performances were not top notch but he still managed to break into the side again a couple of years later. 2007 was not the best one for Rainsford’s international career as a stress fracture in the back forced him to miss out on almost an entire season right until November 2008. He has, however, bounced back well after the injury and still continues to be one of Zimbabwe’s finest pacers, especially on the domestic circuit.
