Craig Derek Cumming Profile

Craig Cumming is a right-handed batsman from New Zealand who is considered to have the best technique to face quality pace bowling. He made an impressive debut in 2004-05 as he scored a gritty 74. Since then, he failed to keep up with his performances which saw him going out of the team. After his successful campaigns in 2007-08 domestic season, he made a comeback into the New Zealand team for the Test series against South Africa.

The right-hander believes in attacking the quickies and not letting the fast bowlers settle. A downfall that a critic can easily point out in his batting style is that the Kiwi opener fails to convert his starts into big scores. Cummings is also an outstanding fielder in the infield with his sharp reflexes.

The 32-year old will be best remembered as the batsman who faced the 100 mph plus quick deliveries from Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee. With Stephen Fleming announcing retirement and Vincent off to the ICL, Cummings has a brilliant opportunity to nail his place as the Kiwi opener.
