A promising English-born Irish cricketer, Andrew Poynter is a product of the Middlesex Cricket Academy. At the age of 18 he made his first-class debut for Middlesex against Cambridge UCCE. He was part of the Ireland Under-19 setup where he played around 6 youth one dayers. Progressing from age group cricket, he was selected for the Ireland A squad against Denmark. After an impressive run in the domestic arena, Poynter made his ODI debut against a touring New Zealand in 2008.
