Tanvir Islam Profile
Tanvir Islam is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler for Bangladesh, and we have seen quite a few of them produced by them, with the most notable being their legend Shakib Al Hasan. Islam made his first-class debut in 2017 for Barishal Division. In the same year, he played his first List A game for Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity and picked up three wickets. He ended up being their leading wicket-taker, with 22 dismissals in 16 matches. He was drafted by Khulna and made his T20 debut in the 2017 Bangladesh T20 League. He was also named in the Bangladesh squad for the 2019 South Asian Games, where they won the Gold medal, defeating Sri Lanka in the final. In 2021, he was selected in the Bangladesh Emerging squad for their home series against the Ireland Wolves. In the unofficial Test match, Islam took thirteen wickets in the match, including 8/51 in the second innings. Islam was also part of the Bangladesh team that won the Bronze medal in the 2022 Asian Games. Islam played for Comilla in the 2020–21 Bangladesh T20 League, where he ended with 16 wickets in 12 games. The following year, he picked up 17 wickets and in 2024, got 13 scalps, which shows his consistency. He also lifted the trophy with the team and finished as runners-up once as well. His national call-up was inevitable and he made his T20I debut against England and picked up the big wicket of Phil Salt. He has been a great find for the country and unsurprisingly, he was named in the Bangladesh squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
