Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his one-day-international debut against Bangladesh in December 2004, his Test debut came a year later against the touring Sri Lankans.

He made an impact with his 148 against Pakistan in only his fifth ODI in 2005. He would score and unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka later that year which would prove his utility as wicket-keeper batsman

Dhoni was appointed the captain of the one-Ddy team in 2007 after Rahul Dravid's decision to resign from the post. He met with success as India lifted the 2007 World Twenty20 Championship. He would take over the Test captaincy after Kumble's retirement in 2008.

The recent Champions Trophy win though however showed that even at 32, this man is not just gifted and talented but an extremely able general of a formidable cricket force.
