After a fantastic spell of 2/9 off 4 overs from Shapoor Zadran, Nawroz Mangal's 65 helped Afghanistan earn a spot in the World T20 2016 in India as his side beat Papua New Guinea (PNG) by six wickets in the qualifying tournament at The Village in Malahide on Thursday.
In a modest chase of 128, Afghanistan lost opener Mohammad Shahzad off the first ball but Mangal stayed on and built his team's essay. He and skipper Ashgar Stanikzai (22) put on 57 for the second wicket to keep their side in the game.
Stanikzai eventually fell for 22 but Mangal stayed on till the end and took his team over the line, with six wickets and 10 balls to spare.
