South Africa have emphatically won this series 2-0 and they've done so in great style. So that's it from us for England's tour of South Africa. Hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Until next time, it's goodbye from us. Adios and take care!
The South African skipper, FAF DU PLESSIS (On England's collapse) says that they were excellent in that period. Continues saying they did well to come back in the game. Adds that it's good to win but the most important thing for him and the team is to learn for the World T20. (On catches) He says he is very pleased with it. (On the run chase) He says he is quite happy. Adds that on every ground they have done well and it's easy especially with AB in this mode. (On team selection) Says he is happy with the choices at his disposal. Ends by thanking the fans for providing such a great atmosphere today.
Man of the Series, IMRAN TAHIR says he is pleased he is doing well for the team. (On facing different tactics) He says even if they come with a different game plan, he is prepared as he works hard in the nets. Continues saying he is happy as they are playing good. (On the wickets in India) He says it will suit him and hopefully he will do well. Ends by saying he will practice hard and he hopes for good things to come.
Man of the Match, AB DE VILLIERS says he really enjoyed batting up the order as he enjoys playing his shots. (On moving to the Wanderers) He chuckles and says that the people are great here and always support the team throughout. Says he is pleased they did well again today. (On the World T20) He says the team is hitting good form and want to carry it in the World Cup.
The English skipper, EOIN MORGAN says he thinks they could have taken the game to the hosts with the two set batsmen in. Adds he is disappointed they didn't even get to 180 after the way they were playing. Continues by saying their bowling was very poor today. Also thought they should have gotten a good score after the way they played. (On AB) He says if you let him to get on top of you by bowling poor lengths you will be punished. (On the World T20) He says it is something they are looking forward to and that they have good players in the side. (On being on tour for so long) Says that people have been great here and that his players have done well overall.
The Test series win albeit against a depleted South African team was a great start to the tour for England but they managed to lose their way in the shorter formats with some debatable tactics and selections. England do not have any T2OI series before the World T20 and will have to practice through the warm-up games. South Africa have 3 T20I matches against Australia before the premier tournament.
It is a fitting finish for South Africa as they bounced back well after losing the Test series. The resurrection started with the win in the final Test where the hosts salvaged pride. Although England shot ahead in the beginning of the ODI series, SA came back from 0-2 down to win the series and have now sealed the T2OI series as well. England will look back at the tour with mixed emotions.
Earlier on, England spectacularly imploded losing 7-14 off their last 20 deliveries to finish on 171 all out when a total of above 200 was in prospect at one stage. Buttler and Morgan played superbly after Hales and Root set the base but England were pathetic in the death overs as the Protea bowlers showed tremendous character with the ball. In the end, a total of even 200 plus wouldn't have been enough with the way AB was batting out there.
de Villiers' blitzkrieg was matched by some class strokeplay from Amla who remained unbeaten on 69. Although AB departed after putting on 125 with Amla, the game was done and dusted by then. Skipper du Plessis joined Amla to finish off the formalities thereby taking Proteas home with ease. The ease with which Proteas showed how good a surface this was which only goes to highlight England's brainfade at the death while batting.
So, an emphatic thrashing by the Proteas by 9 wickets with over 5 overs left to win the 2-match T20I series 2-0. Chasing 172 to win, it was the AB show all the way as the mercurial batsman flogged the England bowlers to all parts of the Wanderers. His exceptional assault saw him get 71 off just 29 balls to kill off the chase.
