That ends the coverage for this game. The Stars move to 20 points and have more or less certified their top 2 position. But do not go anywhere, because the Sydney derby is underway at the Showground Stadium!
GLENN MAXWELL HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH for his all-round show.
Earlier in the day, the Stars huffed and puffed to 141, thanks to Glenn Maxwell and Nick Larkin. Hilton Cartwright was struggling throughout but the one good thing he did was, batted till the end.
What to tell about the Stars? Excellent bowling. They keep believing in themselves, don't they? First, they managed to reach a defendable total from a seemingly hopeless situation. Then, they managed to defend 46 runs in the last 5 overs, needing 7 wickets. Great positive blokes. Everyone was excellent, being tight and not giving anything away and Nic Maddinson enjoyed the most, taking 3 wickets.
It was going to be a low-scoring affair, but did anyone predict it? When the Stars were 49/3 in the 10th over, one felt that the game was gone. Then, whey they posted 141, didn't quite look enough. The Scorchers started steadily, not worrying about the run rate but then Cameron Bancroft's wicket changed the game as Perth collapsed from 94/3 to 129/9.
Right. 20 points for Glenn Maxwell's side. How did they manage to win it? Only they know. Or Scorchers. From a point where they should have won, they just lost it. They were looking in good shape at 94/3, needing 47 from 32 balls.
