That's all from this game where the Tallawahs have opened their account in the points table. Done and dusted with this game but remember there is another one loading in the CPL. Do join us at 5.30 pm local (2130 GMT) for the game between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Till then, take care!
Daren Sammy, the St Lucia Zouks skipper, starts by saying that the difference between the two sides was how they bowled in the final overs. Credits the Tallawahs bowlers for a good show in the last 4 overs. On being asked about him thinking about batting a bit higher, especially when he is not bowling, Sammy says that with Nabi bowling, they sent his countryman Zadran ahead of him but adds if there is a chance, he will come up the order. Tells that this is just the first game, so they will look into the positives and return again with learnings for the next one.
Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell says that they are happy to get 2 points as that's what they came here for. Feels that they should have won more comfortably but is still happy about the win. Tells the way the guys bowled especially in the last 10 overs pleased him. Adds that his bowlers gave around 70-80 runs in the last 10 overs and when you do that, you more or less end up winning. On the pitch, Powell says that the difficulty in the pitch is just to get the start and once you get it, it is a good pitch. Tells captaincy has been challenging as they did not get enough training sessions but he is ready to take on the challenge.
ASIF ALI IS NAMED PLAYER OF THE MATCH FOR HIS UNBEATEN 47. He has Sandeep Lamichhane as his translator. Asif, speaking in Hindi, tells that he is really happy playing the CPL. Adds that the conditions back home are not too different from here in the the Caribbean Islands. On being asked whether he cannot speak English, Asif smiles and says that he can understand the language but is not confident to speak in the same.
Earlier in the game, Tallawahs opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Their bowlers got wickets at regular intervals that helped them stop the Zouks for a total well within the reach in spite of a brilliant half ton from Roston Chase. The spinners did the job for the Tallawahs as Permaul and Mujeeb ended with 2-fers while Lamichhane got a wicket to his name. Russell was excellent too in the death overs.
The Zouks started brilliantly with the ball as Kuggeleijn and Zahir kept things tight in the Powerplay. However, after that, things didn't go their way at all with Phillips and Powell scoring runs quickly. McCoy bowled well in his 4-over spell but couldn't give them another breakthrough. Williams went for 18 in his first over and made a decent comeback, got a wicket as well but just couldn't manage to exert enough pressure to find another one and force something in the game towards his side. Nabi and Cornwall, one would assume, were underbowled in this game.
Easy in the end for the Tallawahs! It was always going to be tough for the Zouks to defend the total with the kind of firepower Tallawahs got. However, Zouks had got things under control nicely till the Powerplay as they didn't allow the Tallawahs to get going. By the end of the 5th over, Tallawahs were 25/2. However, the 6th over is where the assault began. Kesrick Williams was hammered for 18 in the 7 over with Phillips depositing him over the ropes twice in the over. The stand between Phillips and Powell was worth 63 and that helped the Tallawahs take control of the game. Both fell in quick time but Asif Ali with a brilliant unbeaten 47 helped the team get over the line. And to think Pakistan have not picked him for the T20I series in England! Big Brathwaite too played a handy inning of 18 in 9 balls.

FOUR! Asif Ali finishes it of in style! Length ball around off, Asif Ali flat-bats it in the gap over extra cover for a boundary. JAMAICA TALLAWAHS WIN BY 5 WICKETS!

Obed McCoy To Asif Ali
WIDE! Good idea but bad execution. McCoy bowls a slower one wide outside off. It is too wide and on the wrong side of the coloured tramline. Wided by the umpire.

Scott Kuggeleijn To Carlos Brathwaite
IN THE AIR...DROPPED! It's the skipper who is guilty of putting down Brathwaite. Could this be the catch that loses the game for the Zouks? Good length ball around off, Brathwaite cuts it uppishly to the left of point. Sammy there with three caps on, dives, gets both his hands to it but fails to grab onto it. He deflects the ball behind allowing them to take two.

Scott Kuggeleijn To Carlos Brathwaite
FOUR! After watching lots of replays, eventually, the thirrd umpire gives his decision. Kuggeleijn misses his yorker and gets punished. The margin of error is so less in this game for a bowler. He delivers a half-volley around off, Brathwaite hits it flat and powerfully. The ball goes over mid off and lands on the ropes, on the full, at long off. That is at first look. It is referred upstairs and after innumerable replays, we come to know that the ball might have just bounced before. Might. Just the one camera angle, so difficult to be sure. But four signalled.
Scott Kuggeleijn to bowl the 18th over.

OUT! CAUGHT! Williams gets the wicket and shows his celebration! A slower one does Russell here! Length and just around off, Russell looks to slam it to the leg side but gets a tickle behind. Fletcher gets down in time and pouches it just above the turf. 16 off 17 balls. A bad day at office for Dre Russ.
