That’s the coverage from this game! The action in the Lanka Premier League continues as Dambulla Giants will take on Jaffna Kings on December 13 at 7.30 pm local (2 pm GMT). Do join us for that game. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Angelo Mathews, the skipper of Colombo Stars, says that it was a brilliant game of cricket and credits his boys for playing well. Mentions that he is not 100% fit but will do everything for this team and is willing to take the risks.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the skipper of Galle Gladiators, says that they gave away 20 runs extra and they need to bowl well. He adds that credit should be given to Colombo Stars batters and especially Chandimal for playing well in the end.
Dinesh Chandimal, the Player of the Match, says that he is lucky to get a chance to play in this tournament as he wasn't even a part of LPL's first draft. Mentions that he is really happy with the way they played and it feels good to get a win. Tells that the coaching staff has supported him a lot.
Stay tuned for Presentation ceremony ...
Earlier in the game, it was the innings of their skipper Angelo Mathews and a cameo from Dinesh Chandimal that lifted them to 162 in the 18 overs and that made them favourites coming into the second half of this game. The bowlers have backed their skipper and overall Colombo Stars will be delighted tonight.
Seekkuge Prasanna has been the main wicket-taker for Colombo Stars this season and he displayed his magic yet again today as he picked two wickets that include the crucial one of Mohammad Hafeez. The other bowlers kept the pressure on and were soon rewarded as the batters tried to up the ante with the required rate rising up. Overall a good disciplined bowling performance and that has taken them to a crucial victory here.
There has been a lot of talk of Kusal Mendis talent in the Sri Lankan cricketing circles over the years and he certainly showed plenty of it today. Galle Gladiators made a brisk start to their innings and lost only the wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka in the Powerplay. They were right in the game till the 14th over with Mendis going good at one end. But his wicket triggered a collapse and they lost their way and were soon bundled out for 121.
In the end a comprehensive victory for Colombo Stars. They have registered a 41 runs victory here. So a second win for them in this season and this will help their net run-rate for sure and they move to the fourth spot on the points table now. Galle Gladiators were in the run chase till the tenth over, but from a position of 81/1, they collapsed and ended up folding for 121.

Naveen-ul-Haq To Mohammad Amir OUT!
OUT! TIMBER! How fitting it is that Naveen-ul-Haq takes the last wicket. Full and on middle, Mohammad Amir clears his front leg and looks to heave across the line but misses. The ball rattles the stumps behind him. You miss, I hit stuff from Naveen-ul-Haq and Colombo Stars win by 41 runs.

Ravi Rampaul To Dhananjaya Lakshan OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! What a stunner by Naveen-ul-Haq in the deep! Ravi Rampaul bowls a short ball, on off. Dhananjaya Lakshan smacks it towards long on. Naveen-ul-Haq is present over there and he stands very closely to the ropes. He takes the catch but the momentum was taking him over the line so he flicks the ball back inside the ropes, goes over the line, comes back in and catches it comfortably. The umpires refer it upstairs. Replay shows that it is a clear catch and Dhananjaya Lakshan will have to walk back to the pavilion. Great piece of fielding by Naveen-ul-Haq.

Dushmantha Chameera To Mohammed Shamaaz OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Colombo Stars get another wicket and they seem to be mobing in the right direction. A length ball, on middle. Mohammed Shamaaz heaves it towards long on. Gets the height but not the distance. Seekkuge Prasanna is stationed over there and he takes the catch easily. Things falling apart quickly here for Galle Gladiators.

Dushmantha Chameera To Isuru Udana OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! It's all happening here! Another one bites the dust for Galle Gladiators. Short of a length, on middle. Isuru Udana tries to pull but miscues. The ball goes off the top edge towards mid-wicket. The batters come back for the second run which always looked risky. Tom Banton is swift enough to collect it and fire it at the keeper's end. Dinesh Chandimal quickly whips the bails off and Isuru Udana is caught well short of his crease. Dhananjaya Lakshan is the new batsman in.
Is that a Run Out? The replays roll in and it shows that Isuru Udana is short of his crease at the batter's end. So another wicket goes down and Galle Gladiators are in deep trouble now.
