So, that's it from this game! Guyana Amazon Warriors have got their campaign up and running with a dominating win. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, on the other hand, would be disappointed with their performance. They have lost two in two and need to pull their socks up. The next match is between the St Lucia Zouks and the Barbados Tridents on 20th of August at 1000 Local (1400 GMT). Join us for that match. Until then, we take your leave. Cheers.
Chris Green, the Guyana skipper, says that they are happy that they have got their campaign up and running. Adds that Hetmyer has been consistent and has played well in both the matches. Mentions that he planned the run chase very well. Green also says the run out of Hemraj was not ideal and to lose wickets in the end was not good. Green mentions that they will learn from the positives and they will look to get better from here.
Rayad Emrit, the Patriots skipper, says the total was not enough to defend. Adds that 150 would have been a good score on this wicket. Mentions the batsmen could have applied themselves and should have taken responsibility. Emrit also says that one of the senior batters should have stepped up like Hetmyer did for Guyana. Emrit praises his bowlers for doing well and 150 would have been good for them to defend.
Keemo Paul, the Man of the Match, says that he is happy with his performance. Adds that he backed his instincts to do well. Mentions that he was disappointed the way he got out but for his 4 wickets, he is very happy. Paul also says Hetmyer is a fantastic player and he played very well. Mentions Hetmyer went very well with his batting and it is good to watch him play like that. Paul also credits the team for performing very well. Ends by saying that it is important that they got their first win of the tournament.
Stay tuned for the Presentation ceremony!!!
Earlier in the match, Guyana did a terrific job with the ball as they restricted the Patriots to just 127. All the bowlers were very good and the job was almost done at the half-way mark. The batting of St Kitts was not upto the mark as they could not just post the big scores and eventually, they ended up with a below-par score. It was a dominating performance from the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
The Patriots' bowling was poor. They were leaking runs at the start and had no idea to the onslaught of Shimron Hetmyer. Rayad Emrit started with an expensive over but returned well to pick up 3 wickets in the end. It was too late though. Sheldon Cottrell was the pick of the bowlers as he was economical and also picked up a wicket. In the end, it was too low a score to defend for their bowlers.
So, Guyana get through to the victory in the end! There was mayhem in the last two overs with wickets falling but there was never any doubt once they had got off to a start. They lost Brandon King early but Hetmyer is in the form of his life as he registered another fifty. He fell with just 4 needed to win but the job was done by then. Hemraj contributed well before he threw his wicket away. There was a hiccup in the end but they will be pleased that they have achieved the victory comfortably.
