That concludes the proceedings for this rain-affected match. Next up at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, previous day), Trinbago Knight Riders will face Saint Lucia Kings in the last match of the season in Trinidad. Do join us in advance for the build-up. Cheers!
Shimron Hetmyer, the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors, says that his bowlers have been doing a fantastic job and his plan was to give his batters a good chance to have a look at the pitch as they had not played on this pitch before. Adds that they need to keep trying their best and his job as a captain is to keep everyone in good spirits. Mentions that they had glimpses of good performance and now it's time to put them all together and get those wins as they go home for the last leg in Guyana.
David Miller, the captain of Barbados Royals, says that on a tough wicket it was a great comeback from them after the break in play and praises the stand between Jason Holder and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Tells that they started well with the ball and he is really chuffed with the result. Mentions that there are concerns of individuals not scoring much but as a team, they are going good and scoring enough runs. Thanks the support staff for giving him phenomenal support and creating a great atmosphere in the dressing room.
Jason Holder is picked for the Player of the Match award. The tall man says that it was all about getting a partnership after losing early wickets. Feels that the rain favoured them a bit and to get to that score was a great effort. Regarding his bowling, Holder says that he just tries to be calm and execute the plans. Mentions that with all the rain around, it's good to be in this position. Thanks the crowd for all the support.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Barbados Royals will be pleased with this win as it came due to their clinical show with the ball. They knew that the target was not enough so the planning was mainly revolving around bowling dot balls and creating pressure. Most of the wickets fell due to the scorecard not moving. Mujeeb Ur Rahman played a big part in that and the likes of Rahkeem Cornwall and Jason Holder also helped Barbados in maintaining the same tempo. David Miller and Quinton de Kock will be now leaving to fulfil national duties but they have done enough to put Barbados Royals in a strong position.
Zero planning and zero execution - that's the story of Guyana's chase! It was a pretty much gettable target, and all they needed was one stable partnership to see them through. But instead, their batters kept playing reckless shots, and eventually, the required rate slipped away from their control. Defeat number 4 of the season for the Guyana Amazon Warriors now, and their season is just refusing to get on track.
Excellent win for Barbados Royals and they have become the first team this season to qualify for the playoffs! The victory looked unlikely when they were reduced to 62 for 5, but after the break in play due to rain, things started to fall in place for them. Jason Holder and Mujeeb Ur Rahman's knocks provided them with a big finish, and then the bowlers of Royals turned on the heat on a supportive deck. Once again, Mujeeb was in the thick of things, giving away only 4 runs in his four overs and claiming one wicket as well.
