Adds that Sheldon Cottrell has been working hard and it is good to see him coming back to full fitness which is good for West Indies cricket. The table-toppers were in a spot of bother in the first innings but a 100-plus run partnership between Azam Khan and Harry Tector pushed them to a reasonable target. The former got to his first half-century in this edition and none of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots bowlers were able to restrict the onslaught towards the end. In the end, the target was well and truly sufficient as the bowlers sealed a one-sided victory.
Barbados Royals are proving to be champion material here as their juggernaut continues to roll. They are well above the rest of the pack and it shows on the points table. They felt they had enough on the board as the wicket seemed to be difficult. They did not get off to the best of starts as they conceded runs freely. The introduction of Mujeeb Ur Rahman turned the tide in their favor as he broke the opening partnership and began to build the scoreboard pressure by bowling with discipline. He took three wickets in his four overs and conceded just 18 runs. Nyeem Young played his first game in this edition of the Caribbean Premier League and returned with three wickets for five runs. Jason Holder continued his fine form with two wickets and Barbados Royals capped a wonderful bowling performance with a well-deserved win.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots started the run chase really well with a 46-run opening partnership laying a good foundation. Sherfane Rutherford began their downfall as he looked to eat up balls in his attempt to regain form. The pressure kept building on them and eventually with his dismissal, he left his team with a mountain to climb. Evin Lewis played well for his 41 but with his wicket, it looked like this could be another long night for the champions. Eventually, the batters came out looking to play their shots but only ended up giving away their wickets. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will now have to depend on other results to go their way if they are to make it to the play offs.
