We were patient enough against a quality line-up, and managed to get the breakthroughs needed. Rub off the green went our way, a smart catch from Smith and to get Kohli early on was a big boost. He played well in the first innings (about Rahane), was a nice partnership as well, we knew if we stick to our task we will get chances and they did come. This group has played for a long time, some new guys have come in, the last series against India didn't go our way, but we have played together as a group and have stuck together. Both sides were familiar to each other (having played a Test series recently), a lot of the guys have played with each other in the IPL, so we know a lot about watching others games, Lyon did a good job as well and we enjoyed ourselves.

Lot of hard work over the two years. It's been nice. That's been the approach for two years (positive approach with the bat). Said through the week that I want to be able to be proactive. I was tested throughout the innings. It was nice to be out there for a period of time with Smudge. Amazing week. Amazing Test from him and what we've come to expect (from him) here in England. Hope it's a big couple of months from him. And I've always said that it feels like all the plans go to him, all the attention he draws, and I can just go about my work. Nice to spend some time out with him. I've always had the confidence. It's about going out there and expressing that. It took me some time and everyone goes through that. I've always been open to change, open to learning. I've bedded down somewhat of a blueprint. It's not always going to work. It's nice to work that out in such a big game and hopefully continues in the next couple of months. Lot of what-ifs going to bed last night. We've come across such moments through the two years where we've had to grind it out. Were able to do that again today.

Australia beat India by 209 runs to win the World Test Championship final at The Oval on Sunday. Victory meant Australia had now captured the one major men's cricket title that had previously eluded them. 

Nathan Lyon removes Mohammed Siraj for 1 as Australia defeated India by 209 runs. With this, Australia have lifted the World Test Championship title. For Australia, Nathan Lyon has scalped four wickets while Scott Boland scalped three wickets. For India, Virat Kohli scored 49 runs while Ajinkya Rahane scored 46 runs. 

OUT!!! Nathan Lyon has provided Australia with another breakthrough as he removes KS Bharat for 23. In desperation of a boundary, Bharat mistimes a shot as it goes up in the air and lands back into the hands of Lyon. Nine wickets gone for India. 

OUT!!! Mitchell Starc has provided Australia with another breakthrough as he removed Umesh Yadav for 1. Umesh gets bamboozled by the bouncer as the ball hits the edge and lands safely into the hands of Alex Carey behind the stumps. Eighth wicket gone for India.

After losing wickets in a quick succession, Team India rely on KS Bharat for a long innings. He has been joined by Umesh Yadav at the crease and the duo are slowly taking their side ahead in the game. India still need 224 runs to win with only three wickets in hand. 

OUT!!! Nathan Lyon has provided Australia with a major breakthrough as he dismissed Shardul Thakur for duck. He strikes on Shardul's pads as the on-field umpire signals out. Despite going for the DRS, Shardul fails to save himself and departs for 0. Seventh wicket gone for India. 

OUT!!! Mitchell Starc has provided Australia with a major breakthrough as he removed Ajinkya Rahane for 46. Rahane tries to loft it for a boundary but the ball hits the edge and lands safely into the hands of Alex Carey behind the stumps. Sixth wicket gone for India.

Ajinkya Rahane is currently batting at 41 and inching closer towards his 27th Test half-century. In the previous over, Rahane and KS Bharat score four runs off Mitchell Starc's delivery. India need 238 runs more to win. 

After two sudden dismissals, Team India is slowly coming back on track as Ajinkya Rahane and KS Bharat are trying to stitch a stable partnership. In the previous over of Mitchell Starc, the duo scores five runs which include a boundary from Rahane.

Cmaeron Green bowls an excellent over and controls the flow of runs. In the previous over, he leaks only one run as Ajinkya Rahane and KS Bharat struggle to get a boundary. India have lost five wickets and would aim for a stable partnership to remain in the game. 

OUT!!! Scott Boland strikes again and removes Ravindra Jadeja for duck in the same over. Jadeja tries to defend but the ball hits the nick of the edge and Alex Carey takes a simple catch behind the stumps. Fifth wicket gone for India. 

OUT!!! Scott Boland gives Australia a massive breakthrough as he dismisses Virat Kohli for 49. The ball hits the edge of the bat and travels straight to Steve Smith, who then takes a brilliant catch at the slip. Big wicket gone for India.

Ajinkya Rahane places a shot towards the fine leg and gets the first boundary of the day. Pat Cummins leaks 6 runs in his over as Rahane and Virat Kohli continue to take Team India ahead in the game. 

Australia have been delivering tight bowling so far and controlling the flow of runs. In the previous over, Ajinkya Rahane scores only 1 run off Scott Boland's delivery as he and Virat Kohli eye some quick boundaries. 

Australia start with a maiden over as pacer Scott Boland brilliant executes his six deliveries, without conceding a single run. On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are cautiously taking Team India ahead in the game. 

The Day 5 of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia begins. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane will continue the proceedings for India at 164/3 as they need 280 runs to win. On the other hand, Scott Boland will be bowling the first over for Australia. 

'The temperature is around 30 degrees and there is a 40% chance of rain, so there could be a thunderstorm, but we do have a reserve day in hand. The pitch though has changed, from green grass to dry grass, the bounce has become lower. There are some foot holes to the left-handers, but there's not a lot against the right-handers. There could be some reverse with the old ball, but the bowlers will have to work hard on the ball. An unusual Oval pitch, it deteriorates usually, but this one has actually become better,' say Nasser Hussain and Kumar Sangakkara, in their pitch report. 

On Day 4, Australia declared their second innings at 270 for 8. The Pat Cummins-led side had gained a first-innings lead of 173 runs. They posted 469 runs before bundling out India for 296. Later, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara - all three were back to the dugout before Kohli and Rahane stitched unbeaten 71 runs for the fourth wicket to keep India in the hunt.

India will be beginning the Day 5 of the ongoing World Test Championship final against Australia at 164/3. Currently, Virat Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (20*) are standing unbeaten at the crease with India needing 280 runs to win on the last day.
