CLT20 opener: Rajasthan Royals prevail at home over Mumbai Indians

Rajasthan Royals beat Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in Jaipur to open the fifth edition of the Champions League T20 on Saturday.

The start was the not the best for Mumbai Indians, who were put into bat by Rajasthan Royals skipper Rahul Dravid. Rajasthan's medium pacer Vikramjeet Malik was the star of the show with the ball, taking three wickets and ultimately the man-of-the-match award.

After Rahul Dravid fell early in Rajasthan's chase, 18-year-old Sanju Samson held the innings together along with opener Ajinkya Rahane. The two shared a consolidating and mature 74-run stand. Samson became the youngest player to score a fifty in both the IPL and the Champions League T20.

Once Rahane fell, Shane Watson took his time settling into the innings as the asking run rate was not difficult for Rajasthan. Later, when Samson was out, Watson combined with Stuart Binny to take the Royals to a resounding 7-wicket win, with two balls to spare. Watson and Binny, both scored 27 each.
