Just before the start of the game, the Ranchi crowd enjoyed hit numbers from Bollywood music director duo of Vishal-Shekhar.

Put into bat, Titans skipper Henry David took his team off to a solid start. He went onto to make 52 off 43 balls.

Davids' knock was easily overshadowed by the best batsman at display on Sunday - AB de Villiers. The star South African took apart the Chennai Super Kings bowling attack in the later half of the innings. He scored 77 from just 36 balls, including seven sixes and three fours.

It was a day to forget for 'Sir' Ravindra Jadeja, who gave away 49 runs from his 3 overs although picking up Ab de Villiers' crucial wicket. Titans scored 185 for 5, touted to be an above par challenging total to chase. When his chance came with the bat later on, Jadeja fell for zero.

Chennai Super Kings' 186-run chase was rocked early with the fall of Murali Vijay in the first over. Roelof van der Merwe's arm ball was too much to handle for Vijay who was bowled for no score.

What started then was a barrage of fours and sixes from the Chennai Super Kings run-machine Suresh Raina. He played the short ball particularly well and played with gay abandon along with Michael Hussey. Raina hit 47 from 28 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He later on earned the man-of-the-match for the momentum changing knock.

Michael Hussey was equally destructive in a 44-ball 89-run stand with Raina. Hussey's 47 came off 26 balls and was laced with 7 fours and a six.

Once Hussey and Raina got out, Dwayne Bravo continued with the scoring rate and gather 38 runs from 28 balls and hit four fours and two sixes. Bravo got out at the threshold of a Chennai win and by that time, the damage was done. Chennai opened their CLT20 campaign with a 4-wicket win over South African side Titans.
