Dallas Mavericks were greeted by their fans in downtown Dallas as the NBA champions took out their victory parade. The Mavericks deserved all the adulation after defeating the much-fancied Miami Heat, 4–2, to win their first NBA title. Dirk Nowitzki was named the Finals Most Valuable Player, becoming the first German and the second European to win the award after Tony Parker (2007).
