India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu failed to put up any fight against Rio Olympics gold medallist Carolin Marin and suffered a heavy 12-21, 5-21 defeat in the women's singles final of Swiss Open Super 300 tournament in Basel, Switzerland. The reigning world champion from India has started the game on a bright note and entered a first game interval with a slender lead. Marin changed gears after the break and pushed the Indian shuttler on the backfoot, who had no answers to her Spanish opponent's superior display, who eventually sealed the opening game 21-12. Marin got off to a brilliant start in the second game, winning four consecutive points. She utterly dominate the second game and didn't allow Sindhu to even reach the double-figure mark.
