Tossing it right:
When Ravi Shastri gave out the pitch report on the first day of the match, he said it was an unusual Motera pitch, very different. It was a 'win toss and bat first' pitch. India captain MS Dhoni called it right opted to bat. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Opening relief:
It was almost after two years Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir clicked as a pair and had a century stand. They added 134 runs. Sehwag scored at a run-a-ball pace and made 117 runs. This was his 13th century in Tests in India - his first century after 30 innings. His last century was posted at Motera two years ago - 173 against New Zealand in November 2010. Pujara's divine knock:
There never was any doubt about the talent and ability of Cheteshwar Pujara, but his chance came only after the stalwarts like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman called it a day. Playing only his sixth Test, Pujara brought up his second Test century, which he later converted into an unbeaten double hundred. His knock took India to a mammoth score of 521/8. Yuvraj Singh returns to Tests:
It was after a year that Yuvraj Singh played a Test match. And he made sure his return to Test cricket after his successful battle against cancer was worth the wait. He scored solid 74 runs and added 130 runs with Pujara for the fifth wicket. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Declaration:
India declared their innings at 521/8 in the third session. It seemed more like a statement than a declaration. It was a confident decision by captain MS Dhoni, who's been under criticism for playing safe in Tests. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Dose of Spin:
And India's decision to declare paid off as England were 41/3 at stumps on Day 2. Indian spinners R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha troubled the English batsmen. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Bamboozled England follow on:
On Day 3, England batsmen had no answers to India's spin duo of Ashwin and Ojha and they were all out for 191 runs and were asked to follow on. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Captain Cook leads from the front:
Alastair Cook made sure he did not make the same mistake twice and led England' fightback and scored 176 runs. He was supported well by Matt Prior. They England pair took the match to the fifth day. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Ojha all the way:
On the fifth morning, Pragyan Ojha, who had taken five wickets in the 1st innings, struck again and that too in quick succession to get rid of Prior and Cook. That opened the gates as England's remaining three batsmen also perished before lunch. India needed 77 runs to win. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)

Winning in style:
Since India opener Gautam Gambhir had to fly back home due to his grandmother's demise, Pujara opened the innings for India with Sehwag. Both Indians looked in a hurry to finish off the proceedings. In the process, Sehwag fell for 25 runs. But by that time India were 57/0. Virat Kohli and Pujara steered India to win in just 15.3 overs. (Photo Courtesy: BCCI)
