3rd Test, Day 1: New Zealand vs England, Statistical highlights

First day's highlights:

# New Zealand, for the first time, have fielded the same eleven in a series of three or more Tests.

# Peter Fulton (124 not out) has registered a career-best in Tests - his maiden century, eclipsing the 75 against the West Indies at Wellington in March 2006.

# Fulton is the second New Zealand opener to post a hundred in Tests against England at Auckland.  John Wright had recorded two hundreds - 130 in February 1984 and 103 in February 1988.

# For the ninth time in a Test series and the third time against England, two New Zealand openers have recorded hundreds.  In the Dunedin Test, Hamish Rutherford had posted 171.

# Kane Williamson (83 not out) has posted his highest score against England, surpassing the 55 not out at Wellington in March this year.

# Williamson's second fifty against England is his seventh in Tests.  He has completed his 500 runs in Tests at home - his aggregate being 524 at an average of 47.63 in nine Tests, including a hundred and four fifties. He has to improve his overseas Test average, which at present is 28.51.

# Fulton and Williamson were involved in a stand of 171 (unbroken) - New Zealand's third highest for the second wicket against England - the highest is 241 between Andrew Jones and John Wright at Wellington in February 1992.

# The aforesaid partnership is New Zealand's highest for any wicket against England at Auckland, obliterating the 154 for the fourth wicket between Jeff Crowe and John Wright in February 1984.

# The unbroken 171-run stand is New Zealand's highest for the second wicket in Tests at Auckland, eclipsing the 148 between John Reid and John Wright against India in March 1981.
