A few days after a highly entertaining IPL 2024 game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a strange claim went viral on social media. According to several social media accounts, match referee and former India pacer Javagal Srinath of changing the outcome of the toss, thus favouring the Mumbai Indians. Multiple users on social media platform X claimed that Srinath tampered with the coin by flipping the sides while picking it up.
However, the users received a reality check from another user, who shared a more clear view of the toss. The video indeed showed that Srinath didn't flip the sides of the coin, but instead forgot the call made by the RCB captain Faf du Plessis. "A clear Video of the toss...If You Still having doubt Either go to Eye Hospital or Mental hospital," the video caption read. However, that post has been deleted.
Now, another video is going viral, where RCB captain Faf du Plessis is seen talking about coin flipping with SRH skipper Pat Cummins ahead of the toss of their IPL 2024 match on Monday. Though no audio was there, netizens claimed that they were talking about the coin flip.
Talking about the SRH vs RCB game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium there were records galore. The most prominent among them was SRH's total of 287/3 - which is the highest in IPL history. Travis Head slammed a ton in 39 balls - the fourth-fastest ton in IPL history - as SRH made merry.
It was an exhibition of brutal hitting meeting hapless bowling as SRH broke their own record of the highest-ever total in IPL. None of the RCB bowlers were up to the task, as SRH coasted off a batting paradise. Though RCB started the chase on a strong footing, the dismissals of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis dealt a major blow.
