The Delhi Capitals batters came out with a mission against Mumbai Indians on Saturday and reaped rich rewards in the IPL 2024 match. Jake Fraser-McGurk continued his red-hot form while Tristan Stubbs and Shai Shope provided good support, The result was that DC notched a humongous total of 257/4 in 20 overs. Though the match went close, MI were restricted to 247/9 in 20 overs. The result saw DC climb up to the fifth spot in the points table.
DC dropped their star opener Prithvi Shaw for the match. The overlooked India star has not been in the best of form in the IPL 2024. In seven games, he only scored 185 at an average of 26.43 and a strike-rate of 162.28. Ahead of the match, Shaw could be seen engaged in an animated chat with Delhi coach Rocky Ponting and this has fanned the speculation that all is not well.
Recently, Shaw opened up on his comeback. "I don't know about this year but in every IPL, they expect me to whack every ball. I don't consider it as pressure, I just try to go out there, take it as a challenge and do my best. It felt good to play white-ball cricket after so long. After coming back from an injury, the hunger is there to score runs, middle the balls. IPL is that kind of a game. If you middle the ball, you know it's your day. Today I was trying to play smartly because we did not get an ideal start, so I was trying to sort it out," Shaw said in video posted by IPL.
