West Indies had some success early on after winning the toss. They removed Rohit Sharma on 12. Ravi Rampaul was the wicket-taker.

Shikhar Dhawan consolidated the innings from his end and scored 35 off 37.

Dhawan was partnered by Virat Kohli who looked at ease as the duo kept the West Indies at bay.

The breakthrough came in the 14th over when Veerasammy Permaul trapped Dhawan LBW.

Kohli was joined by Yuvraj Singh (left) at the crease.
The Delhi batsman completed his fifty off 59 and raced his way to another 49 before falling a run short of the three-figure mark.

Skipper MS Dhoni was responsible for the late surge. He scored 51 off 40 to propel India's innings.

There was success for Rampaul too who finished the innings with figures of 4/60.

Spectators though were cheering Dhoni at the innings break after he had hit three fours and four sixes in a knock that took India to 288.

West Indies' reply was typically weak as the tourists lost two quick wickets.
While Johnson Charles (12) was claimed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma (in pic) reduced WI to 23/2 in 5.4 when he dismissed Marlon Samuels (8).

Ashwin added to the woes when he claimed two wickets in quick succession to pin West Indies down.

Darren Sammy (63*) had other ideas though and he joined Lendl Simmons in a counter-attack that left India stunned.
Though Simmons (62) fell eventually and West Indies lost eight wickets in all, Sammy kept his cool to take his team through and level the series 1-1 with an ODI left.
