South Africa Achieve Six-Wicket Win And Take Unbeatable Series Lead As Crowd Trouble Mars Game

South Africa outperformed India in all departments during the second T20I in Cuttack on Monday. They bowled out India for 92 and achieved a thumping six-wicket win, resulting in an unbeatable 2-0 series lead in a three-match series. However, the match was interrupted twice with the crowd hurling bottles onto the field.

However, the real star for South Africa was Albie Morkel. Albie, who was selected in the squad only after David Wiese was injured, showed his IPL experience in this match. He ran through the lower-middle order and finished with magnificent figures of 4-0-12-3. Playing in his first T20I after more than a year, it was a great comeback for Albie.

The South African bowlers operated as a well-oiled unit and they bowled India out for 92, their second-lowest total in T20I history.

Chasing 93, South Africa got off to a flying start but R Ashwin bowled an inspired spell to get rid of Hashim Amla (2), AB de Villiers (19) and Faf du Plessis for 16. His haul of 3/24 gave India a faint chance.

However, this was the point where the match turned ugly. Following the end of the 11th over, certain sections of the crowd started throwing bottles onto the field and play was held up for 27 minutes. The authorities tried to maintain normalcy.

However, after two overs, another crowd trouble led to the players walking off the field and there were fears that the match would be called off. The match officials worked hard to get some stability and the match resumed with the upper sections of the stand cleared out.

Following the resumption, JP Duminy remained unbeaten for the second time and he steered South Africa to a six-wicket win. Thanks to this win, South Africa have gained an unbeatable 2-0 series lead with one match to play in Kolkata.
