# Mahendra Singh Dhoni (77 off 96 balls) has registered his third Test fifty in England.

# Dhoni had recorded two fifties in the 2007 Test series - 92 at The Oval and 76 not out at Lord's.

# Dhoni's fifth fifty against England is his 22nd in Tests.

# Dhoni has registered eleven fifties each at home and away from home.

# Dhoni has become the first Indian captain to post a fifty at Edgbaston, outstripping Nawab of Pataudi's 47 in 1967.

# Dhoni is the first Indian skipper to hit three sixes in a Test innings at Edgbaston, eclipsing Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan's two during his innings of 28 off 46 balls in 1979.

# Praveen Kumar (26) has recorded his career-best score, bettering the 25 off 25 balls against England at Trent Bridge in the present series.

# Dhoni and Praveen Kumar were associated in an eighth wicket partnership of 84 - India's highest at Edgbaston, bettering the 68 between Roger Binny and Kiran More in July 1986.

# India's highest partnership for the eighth wicket in England is 97 between Madan Lal and Sandeep Patil at Manchester in June 1982.

# The 84-run stand is India's third highest against England, next only to the 97 (as above) and 85 between Sunil Gavaskar and Abid ali at Manchester in 1974.

# Dhoni has completed his 500 runs against England - 523 at an average of 30.76 in eleven Tests.

# Virender Sehwag has recorded his 13th Test duck - his fifth against England.

# Sehwag has registered five first-ball ducks in Tests - one each against England, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

# Sehwag has posted six ducks in the first innings and seven in the second innings.

# In seven Test innings in England, Sehwag has registered one century, one fifty and two ducks.  He has aggregated 237 runs at an average of 33.85.

# Gautam Gambhir (38) has posted his highest innings in England in Tests, obliterating the 22 in the second innings at Lord's last month.

# Sachin Tendulkar (1) has recorded his lowest Test score at Edgbaston.  In his first Test at this venue fifteen years ago, he had made 24 & 122.

# Stuart Broad has dismissed Tendulkar three times in the present series - once each at Lord's (caught by Swann), Nottingham (caught by Strauss) and Birmingham (caught by Anderson).

# In seven Tests this year, Dravid has amassed 571 runs at an average of 51.90, including three centuries and one fifty - the most by an Indian in 2011.

# Laxman (30) has managed 154 runs in five innings at an average of 30.80, including two fifties - the second best by an Indian in the present series, next only to Dravid - 284 (ave.71.00) in three Tests.

# Stuart Broad has produced his best bowling performance in a Test series - 19 at 11.73 runs apiece.  His previous best in a Test series was 18 (ave.30.22) in five Tests against Australia in 2009.

# Since posting 98 against Australia at Sydney in January 2011, the 84-run unbroken stand is the first fifty-plus stand in nine innings for Cook and Strauss.

# Cook (626 at an average of 69.55) has become the second batsman after Ian Bell (681) to aggregate 600 runs in 2011 in Tests.

# Cook's 52 not out is his first fifty in nine innings.  He had last posted a Test fifty against Australia - 60 at Sydney in January 2011.

# Cook's 25th fifty in Tests is his third against India.
