India Beat England at Lord's After 28 Years, Record First Overseas Test Win Since 2011
July 21, 2014 23:46
India registered a 95-run win against England at Lord's to win a Test for the first time since 1986 at the Mecca of Cricket.

Ishant Sharma turned up as India's hero, finishing with his career-best figures of 7/74 and orchestrating his side's victory on the final day of the second Test.
Zoom
It all began for India when Ishant Sharma bounced out Moeen Ali in the final ball of the first session, forcing the left hander to take evasive action. Moeen failed to keep his bat away and a top-edge was taken easily by Pujara at short leg.

Just after lunch, Matt Prior's poor form continued. Ishant dug another short ball in and Prior took the bait, pulling the ball straight to Murali Vijay at deep midwicket.

Ishant etched his name in the Lord's honours board with Ben Stokes' scalp just an over after dismissing Prior. Stokes fell for a duck after miscuing a pull shot and landing it straight in the hands of Pujara at mid-wicket.

After very little luck and success in the first session, Dhoni-Ishant ploy of dealing in bouncers was working to perfection for the visitors.
Zoom
The first session saw England put on an excellent fight as Joe Root and Moeen Ali put on a defiant partnership.
Zoom
Joe Root slammed his fifth Test fifty and looked set to steer England out of the misery and even aim for an unexpected England win.
Zoom
Moeen Ali too looked solid for his 39 from 147 deliveries before being bounced out by Ishant on the last ball of the first session.

The day, however, belonged to the tall and lanky Ishant Sharma. Another bouncer from him ended Root's resolve and virtually ended England's last chance of saving the Test.
Zoom
Ishant Sharma became the first Indian bowler to bag seven wickets in the fourth innings of a Test. This was his sixth five-wicket haul in white kits but his first in a winning cause.
Zoom
India's defining moment arrived when Ravindra Jadeja ran out his nemesis and England's last batsman James Anderson.
Zoom
Foes turn Friends! Even as a preliminary hearing awaits Ravindra Jadeja and James Anderson over an alleged scuffle during the first Test at Trent Bridge, the duo were professional enough to shake hands at the end of the Lord's fixture that saw the visitors take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
