... THE RUN CHASE ...

South Africa, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with their bowling effort. They took a pasting in the initial few overs but made a good comeback by picking up a few wickets to stop the momentum for a bit. However, Mitchell Marsh and Tim David made sure that they utilized the start they got and continued to find the boundaries. Lizaad Williams was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Marco Jansen, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Gerald Coetzee chipped in with one each. Their batters now have an uphill task to chase down this total and a few records need to be broken for them to get the win here. Join us in a bit to see how the chase unfolds.

Australia got off to an absolute flier even though they lost Travis Head after he hit a six in the first over. Mitchell Marsh came in and started smashing it all around the park while Matthew Short also played a quick-fire 20 off just 11 balls. They ended the Powerplay on 70/3 but lost their way a bit by losing a couple of wickets in quick succession. Tim David joined in and then both he and Marsh attacked the Proteas bowlers left right and center. They added 97 runs together with David scoring a blistering 69 off just 28 balls. Aaron Hardie on debut also played a fine quick cameo of 23 off just 14 balls to take them over the 200-run mark while Marsh lost a bit of his timing towards the end but remained unbeaten on 92 off 49 balls to take them to a gigantic total here.

An absolutely breathtaking display of batting from the Aussies! This is the highest T20I total at Kingsmead, and Mitchell Marsh literally led them from the front with a brilliant unbeaten knock and they will surely be the happier side going into the break.
