Yuvraj Singh, who played a stellar role in India's ODI World Cup triumph last year, has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy in the United States. The 30-year-old left-hander has been in US since last month being treated for what was earlier claimed to be a tumour in the lungs by his family.

The tumour has now been diagnosed as malignant and Yuvraj is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the Cancer Research Institute in Boston. His physiotherapist Dr Jatin Chaudhary, however, assured that the ailment is curable and the batsman would be fit to resume cricket in May.

Yuvraj twisted his ankle against Australia at Wankhede in 2003. He was carried off the field by Virender Sehwag and L Balaji (right).

Kho-Kho can be painful. Yuvraj found out when he twisted his knee during a fun match during the 2006 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. The game took maximum damage though as it was removed from the training session of the national team.

The 2008 series between India and England did not begin well for the south-paw. Here he is seen wincing in pain during the first ODI at Rajkot. A finger injury had also threatened his participation prior to the match.

During the 2009 Champions Trophy in South Africa, Yuvraj fractured his finger during a training session in Johannesburg.

The welcome may have been great when Yuvraj reached Bangladesh in 2010 but a wrist injury in the following days kept him out of action for some time.

The same year, on the tour of Sri Lanka, he became the subject of jokes from fans in Colombo when he brought water to the middle. Reaction from the player, reportedly, was anything but understanding.

Yuvraj was also struck on the hand during practice before the World Cup match against England in Bangalore, earlier this year. He however, managed to keep himself away from the sidelines and played the match.
