England captain Alastair Cook continued his onslaught on the Indian bowlers who appeared hapless

Debutant Haseeb Hameed also made 82 runs which turned out to be the highest score by an English teenage cricketer

Cook, on the other hand, went ahead to notch his 30th Test century and the first overseas player to get five in India

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra gave India two breakthroughs with the wickets of Hameed and Joe Root

But England were confident and kept the scoreboard ticking with Cook and Ben Stokes

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finally got the wicket of Cook, who then itself declared to give India a target of 310 runs

Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay tried sticking it out together in the middle

But Pujara, who scored a century in the first innings, also got out bringing out India captain Virat Kohli

India, however, continued to lose more wickets

Ashwin, with his knock of 32, gave some support to Kohli at the other end

Moeen Ali, who was later adjudged the man of the match, also picked up a wicket

At one stage, it looked as if England might just pull it through by taking all the Indian wickets

But India somehow managed to hold on

And the credit went to Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 49 in the fourth innings

Following the draw, the series now moves to Visakhapatnam where the second Test will commence on November 17
