The 25-year-old Hughes died after being hit on the head by a bouncer. The incident shocked the cricketing world and Michael Clarke was no exception.

Clarke was seen at Hughes' bedside at almost all hours. He has been in constant support for the cricketer's family.

Unshaven and tired, the 33-year-old Clarke read out an emotional statement alongside Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland, hours after Phillip Hughes passed away.

The Aussie skipper looked visibly upset as he hid his face beinhd his hands. Clarke had been spending a lot of time with the Hughes family and even gave emotional support to Sean Abbott, whose bouncer proved to be fatal for the batsman.

Clarke said that Hughes' family shared the love of the game and he thanked the hospital staff for trying their best to save the young man.

The 33-year-old is doing his best to be fit for the first Test against India which starts on December 4. The match however may be called off following Hughes' death.
