England's flamboyant Joe Root shattered South Africa's legendary Jacques Kallis' record for the fastest to 13,000 Test runs.

Root took a step closer towards dethroning India's legendary Sachin Tendulkar from the summit of the highest-run scorer in the format.

He achieved this feat during the opening day of their one-off fixture against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, where he scored 34 runs before getting dismissed by Blessing Muzarabani.

Root completed his 13,000 Test runs in 153 matches while Kaalis had achieved this feat in 159 matches.
