Sri Lankan seamers ruled the roost on Day 1 of the Test with Bangladesh being bowled out for 232 in 63.5 overs. Suranga Lakmal (in pic) picked up three wickets and Shaminda Eranga took 4 wickets in the first innings. Lakmal returned with three wickets in the second innings as well, ending the match as the most succeful bowler with six scalps.

Sri Lanka then started piling on the agony on the hosts with tons of runs. First it was right-handed opener Kaushal Silva's turn to score a maiden ton when he hammered 139 from 244 balls with the help of 16 fours and two sixes.

Veteran Mahela Jayawardene joined the party with his seventh double hundred. His 203 not out was laced with 16 fours and four sixes. Mahela emulated Kumar Sangakkara's record of 7 double tons - most by any Sri Lankan in Tests.

Kithuruwan Vithanage, the left-handed middle order batsman, too scored his maiden ton, batting at number eight. Vithanage hammered 103 not out from 104 balls as Sri Lanka declared at 730 for 6 in their first innings with a 498-run lead.

Shakib-Al Hasan, who scored a half century in the first innings, was Bangladesh's most successful bowler, picking up three wickets but had gone for plenty - 159 runs in his 43 overs.

Dilruwan Perera, took his maiden five-wicket haul as Bangladesh were bowled out for 250 in their second innings as Sri Lanka scored a whopping innings-and-248-run win that gave them a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
