Muttiah Muralitharan retired from Test cricket in July 22, 2010, after achieving a historic feat - becoming the first person to take 800 wickets.
In his last Test at the Galle International Stadium against India, Muralitharan needed eight wickets to reach the milestone. In the first innings he took 5/63 while in the second he returned with 3/128 and etched his name into history books. Pragyan Ojha was his 800th victim.
Sri Lanka won the Test by 10 wickets.
Muralitharan retired from ODIs in 2011, coincidentally this time also with a game against India.
