Steyn recently shot a scene for a movie titled Family Moon, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, in Los Angeles. The movie is reportedly about a couple forced to live together after a blind date, with their respective children from previous marriages.
Acting came naturally to the pace bowler as he was playing the role of a cricketer - a part he has excelled in, in real life. With 432 international wickets, Steyn has been a formidable force in international cricket but a recent injury during Champions Trophy forced him to stay off the pitch. His agent was quoted as saying that the 30-year-old opted to make the most of his time off the field by being in front of the camera.
His role? "I have to pitch/bowl to Drew's son, whom Adam is coaching," Steyn was quoted as saying. "The whole thing was amazing. Adam was great. He really made me feel welcome. They all did. The team at Warner Brothers and Happy Madison Productions were so friendly and professional."
Steyn missed South Africa's recent tour to Sri Lanka but is expected to play against Pakistan in October, in UAE. As for the film, details about the release are still awaited.
