About VCC Voorburg

One of the three international cricket grounds situated in Netherlands, Voorburg's Westvliet got it's official ODI status in 2010. The other two grounds, VRA ground in Amstelveen and the Hazelaarweg ground in Rotterdam had been granted the ODI status before and Westvliet was the third to be added to the list. Voorburg Cricket Club uses this venue as their home ground. It hosted its first match in 2010 when Afghanistan locked horns with Scotland in the warm-up match for the 2010 World Cricket League Division One, hosted by Netherlands. It has a boundary which is too short on one side and despite not fulfilling the ICC regulations, it was awarded the ODI status which did not go well with several other Associate countries.

The ground staged its first ODI on July 1st which saw Afghanistan outclass Canada in the ICC World Cricket League tournament. After a total of four ODIs, the ground received a setback as a further two matches of the World Cricket League tournament were moved out of the venue due to the pitch being considered unsatisfactory. But after a period of 14 months, international cricket returned to the venue when Netherlands hosted Kenya in the ICC World Cricket League Championship, 2011-2013. It hosted its first T20I match on 24th July, 2012 when Bangladesh took on Scotland in a one-off game.
