Owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, the Kennington Oval, formerly known as The Oval situated near river Thames, has hosted ten World Cup matches since the inaugural event in 1975, followed by 1979, 1983 and 1999. Home to Surrey County Cricket Club, Kennington Oval is where the first-ever Test match on English soil was played between England and arch-rivals Australia in September, 1880. Over the years, it has hosted over a hundred Tests.
Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq claimed a hat-trick here against Zimbabwe in the 1999 World Cup. Apart from cricket, the Kennington Oval has also hosted the first FA Cup final in 1872. It also has hosted rugby international matches.
Fans planning to reach the iconic venue can avail the service of London Metro: two underground lines the Victoria line which halts at Vauxhall station and the Northern line which stops at the Oval station barely 100 meters south to the venue. Fans can also reach by availing the London Bus services.
