Doctor Sachin Tendulkar? Master Blaster says he could have been in medical profession

If he was not called Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, he may well have been Dr Sachin Tendulkar! Speaking to a group of school children at an event here, the legendary cricketer said that, while sports was always his first choice, the medical profession could have been his calling as well.

Married to Anjali - a doctor by profession, Tendulkar said that being a tennis player and a doctor were his alternatives if he had not succeeded as a cricketer. "If cricket had not happened, I'd have maybe become a doctor. Now, it's difficult to imagine life without cricket. But I think I'd have been a sportsman for sure - as my second love was tennis, I'd have perhaps become a lawn tennis player," revealed the 40-year old-cricketer who retired from all forms of cricket last year. Tendulkar's passion for cricket and his enthusiasm for sports - tennis in particular, have been well-known. He was seen at Wimbledon in 2011 and waved the chequered flag in the inaugural edition of the Indian Grand Prix.

The former cricketer - whose records in the sport are as impressive as they are daunting for budding players to break, has also been a vocal supporter of health, personal hygiene. He was recently made the UNICEF ambassador and has been part of NDTV's Support My School campaign.
