History was made on the second-last day of the English summer during a County championship division two game between Surrey and Northamptonshire on Thursday.
Tom and Sam Curran, sons of the late Zimbabwe international player Kevin Curran, became the first pair of brothers in 65 years to account for all 10 wickets in an innings. Surrey had piled up 410 thanks to a wonderful century from Kumar Sangakkara and it was the turn of the Curran brothers to wreck havoc.
Tom picked up 7/35 while Sam managed figures of 3/46 as Northamptonshire were bowled out for 110. Their haul matched the record of the Oakes brothers of Sussex in 1950. In that match, Jack Oakes and Charlie Oakes took 5/68 and 5/35 respectively as Surrey dismantled Somerset for 184 in Taunton.
These feats have not been restricted to County cricket itself. In 2011, Namibia's Scholtz brothers took all the wickets against Kwazulu-Natal Inland in the South Africa domestic competition. In a three-day competition, Nicolaas Scholtz took 5/103 and Bernard Scholtz took 5/112 as the match was drawn.
